The Island of Tatihou
The Island of Tatihou is accessible from the port of Saint Vaast la Hougue, on foot at low tide or by amphibious boat at high tide. It is an island preserved for its rich historical and natural heritage. There are traces of prehistory, its Viking occupation in the 11th century and the 100-year war. In 1692, the French defeat at the Battle of the Hougue prompted the construction of the Vauban Towers, observation and artillery towers that are now listed as a World Heritage Site.
Water mill of Marie Ravenel
Water Mill of the XVIII century which was named Mill Marie Ravenel in homage to the poet who lived there for nearly 30 years. This mill with a thatched roof is exceptionally preserved, you will discover its large wheel with troughs of 6.40 m of height. Visit the interior to understand how the mill still makes flour. Rediscover the daily life of the past and participate in fun workshops around the making of bread. Settle down on the benches of the old school by visiting a completely reconstructed 1950s classroom.
